INLAND CONSTRUCTION/BTD DOMINATES 12-HOUR NATIONAL ULTRA-ENDURANCE CALENDAR EVENT
Charlotte, NC- Inland/ BTD’s Daniel Corum and Charlie Pendry decided to test the waters of 12-hour racing by attending the Cowbell Challenge, the fifth stop of the National Ultra-Endurance Racing Calendar. With neither rider ever having attempted such an event, they were unsure what to expect. “We just decided to grab the lead early, and adjust as needed,†said Pendry. No adjustments were needed, however, as both riders found their groove immediately and preceded to run away with the race. Not only did the duo of Pendry and Corum win the 2-man category, but they also had the 2 fastest laps, won the King of the Mountains Competition, and completed the most overall laps. “We thought it would go well, but it’s cool to think that the two of us were able to do more laps than all the 4-man teams,†remarked Corum. Consistency proved to be the key, as both riders stayed within 4 minutes of their fastest lap times for the entire 12 hours. Perhaps this is the beginning of something new for the Inland/ BTD team.
Of course, none of this could have been possible without the help of long-time friends Brad Copeland and Lauren Hilton. While Corum and Pendry were dealing with the race, Brad and Lauren were fixing bottles, checking lap times, fixing bikes, and making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be for 12 solid hours. Without them, things could not have gone so well, so a big a thank-you to them.
