4/4: Knobscorcher SERC/AMBC XC: Bryson City, NC

The Knobscorcher is perennially one of the biggest east coast XC races and most cherished races to win among southeastern racers. This year’s event continued along the trend of a renewed interest in xc racing this year with attendance levels similar to the late 90’s field sizes in all categories. BTD’s Charlie Storm, trying to repeat his win from a year ago, battled the entire day with a lead group of eight riders, which included BTD’s Dan Doub and Charlie Pendry. In the end it was Canadian John Hadley taking the win, with Storm falling to 5th after sliding out while leading at a pressing time late in the race. Dan Doub finished 13th after being slowed by a bent derailleur hanger late in the race. Charlie Pendry, logging hard miles in preparation for the Sea Otter Classic Stage Race in two weeks, had to abandon the race late after sharing the heavy workload in the front group all day.
